Providing preliminary to final engineering design to modernize 11.45km of the northern portion of the capital’s ring road to improve traffic handling capacity, redistributing traffic and decongesting city streets.
The Bucharest Ring Road connects all roads headed towards the city: 8 National Roads and 2 Highways. It’s in a large proportion used by heavy vehicles, making traffic fluency very difficult. It’s modernization and extension represents a necessity, in a large part because improving its traffic handling capacity will redistribute traffic and decongest the city streets. The section modernized includes an 11.45km section of the Bucharest Ring Road, located north-east of the city, runs parallel with the railroad with one lane in each direction and includes road intersections with National Road DN2, DN3 and Highway A2, 1 roundabouts, 3 overpasses, 2 over the railroad, consolidation, hidrotechnical and environmental works. Consitrans was responsible for the preliminary and final engineering design phases, as well as technical assistance and monitoring during the execution phase.
